This 5 x 6 ft Beige Chobi rug is hand-knotted from 100% wool over a cotton foundation, in the vegetable-dyed Ziegler tradition. An open Farahan / Mahal floral composition spreads across a warm beige field in burgundy red, muted sage green, dusty rose, brown, taupe, and soft gray, with layered burgundy floral borders framing the piece. The natural dye process gives the color gentle striation (abrash) rather than flat, uniform tone — a mark of hand craftsmanship, not a flaw. The open, spacious layout reads calm rather than busy, and the wool pile has been stone-washed for a soft, slightly antique finish that only gets better with age.
About Chobi Rugs
Chobi rugs draw on the Ziegler floral tradition, combining warm, muted tones with spacious patterns that bring calm and elegance to your home. Typically hand-knotted in hand-spun wool over a cotton foundation, they offer rich texture, subtle color variation known as abrash, and a softly aged finish. Crafted by Afghan and Pakistani weavers, these handmade wool rugs complement your furniture while adding warmth and individual character.
- Vacuum regularly on a low or no-beater-bar setting, taking care around the fringe.
- Rotate the rug every 6-12 months for even wear.
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing.
- Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to help preserve color.
- We recommend a rug pad underneath to prevent slipping and extend the rug's life.
- For deeper cleaning, use a wool-safe professional rug cleaner every 1-2 years.
