This 2x7 Red Afghan Mishwani runner features a richly detailed central field filled with repeating diamond medallions arranged in a continuous geometric lattice. The dominant palette combines deep red and burgundy with contrasting ivory-cream, deep navy blue, brown, and warm tan accents. Each diamond contains smaller stylized floral and tribal symbols, creating a layered pattern with strong symmetry and visual depth. The central field is surrounded by multiple narrow geometric borders, including diamond chains, stepped lines, zigzag forms, and Greek-key-inspired motifs. The end sections continue the tribal design language with horizontal patterned bands and natural fringe, giving the runner a balanced handmade finish. Its long, narrow proportions make this vintage Afghan Mishwani piece especially suitable for hallways, entryways, kitchens, corridors, bedside spaces, and other transitional areas.
About Mishwani Rugs:
Mishwani rugs are traditional Afghan wool rugs known for combining a flatwoven kilim base with raised hand-knotted pile, creating a distinctive textured finish. Rich colours, repeating diamonds, and geometric tribal motifs bring warmth and character to your home, while their handmade construction gives each piece individual charm. These versatile rugs add texture and visual interest to living rooms, bedrooms, and hallways.
- Vacuum regularly on a low or no-beater-bar setting, taking care around the fringe.
- Rotate the rug every 6-12 months for even wear.
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing.
- Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to help preserve color.
- We recommend a rug pad underneath to prevent slipping and extend the rug's life.
- For deeper cleaning, use a wool-safe professional rug cleaner every 1-2 years.
