This 2x11 Rust Red Afghan Mishwani runner features a long, narrow field organized around repeating pairs of raised diamond medallions, smaller nested diamonds, and angular tribal symbols. The design combines a rich rust-red and terracotta palette with charcoal blue, dark brown, ivory, olive green, and warm tan accents. The central medallions have layered outlines and small geometric details inside, while the surrounding field is filled with repeating hooked and angular motifs that create a strong rhythmic tribal pattern. The side borders feature dense square, diamond, and geometric repeats, framed by narrow guard bands. At the ends, the rug transitions into broad horizontal striped flatwoven sections with repeated accent bands and natural fringe, giving the piece a distinctive mixed-texture Mishwani character. Its long runner proportions make it especially suitable for hallways, entryways, kitchens, corridors, bedside spaces, and other narrow areas.

About Mishwani Rugs:

Mishwani rugs are traditional Afghan wool rugs known for combining a flatwoven kilim base with raised hand-knotted pile, creating a distinctive textured finish. Rich colours, repeating diamonds, and geometric tribal motifs bring warmth and character to your home, while their handmade construction gives each piece individual charm. These versatile rugs add texture and visual interest to living rooms, bedrooms, and hallways.

Rug Care
  • Vacuum regularly on a low or no-beater-bar setting, taking care around the fringe.
  • Rotate the rug every 6-12 months for even wear.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to help preserve color.
  • We recommend a rug pad underneath to prevent slipping and extend the rug's life.
  • For deeper cleaning, use a wool-safe professional rug cleaner every 1-2 years.

Tapestry of Rugs vs. Mass-Produced Rugs

Not all rugs are made the same. Here's what sets a hand-knotted, one-of-one vintage rug apart from a mass-produced one.

Tapestry of Rugs
Mass-Produced Rugs
Hand-knotted by skilled artisans
Machine-made at scale
100% natural wool
Often synthetic fibers like polypropylene
One-of-a-kind — no two are alike
Identical copies made in bulk
Vintage character with real history
New, uniform, no history
Built to last for generations
Built for short-term use
Naturally hypoallergenic wool fibers
Can off-gas synthetic chemicals
Can hold or gain value over time
Depreciates like disposable decor
