This 2 x 11 ft Burgundy Red Afghan Mishwani rug combines a flatwoven kilim ground with hand-knotted wool pile raised directly onto the pattern—so the diamond medallions and hooked geometric motifs stand up off the surface in three-dimensional relief. Seven diamond medallions repeat along the field in red, warm brown, charcoal, and cream, surrounded by burnt orange hooked motifs against a dark brown flatwoven ground. A burgundy border filled with small cream and orange square motifs frames the piece, while cream zigzag outlines and striped kilim bands at both ends complete the design.
