This 2 x 11 ft Terracotta Afghan Mishwani rug combines a flatwoven kilim ground with hand-knotted wool pile raised directly onto the pattern—so the diamond medallions and hooked geometric motifs stand up off the surface in three-dimensional relief. Seven diamond medallions repeat along the field in terracotta, rust, muted olive green, warm brown, and tan, set against a dark navy blue flatwoven ground. An intricate layered geometric border with angular tribal motifs frames the piece, while striped kilim bands finish both ends. This mixed construction—tightly woven kilim sections alternating with raised wool pile—gives the rug a texture you can feel as much as see.

About Mishwani Rugs
Mishwani rugs are traditional Afghan wool rugs known for combining a flatwoven kilim base with raised hand-knotted pile, creating a distinctive textured finish. Rich colours, repeating diamonds, and geometric tribal motifs bring warmth and character to your home, while their handmade construction gives each piece individual charm. These versatile rugs add texture and visual interest to living rooms, bedrooms, and hallways.
- Vacuum regularly on a low or no-beater-bar setting, taking care around the fringe.
- Rotate the rug every 6-12 months for even wear.
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing.
- Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to help preserve color.
- We recommend a rug pad underneath to prevent slipping and extend the rug's life.
- For deeper cleaning, use a wool-safe professional rug cleaner every 1-2 years.
