This 3x10 Red Afghan Mishwani runner features a long, narrow field covered in a dense all-over diamond lattice of repeating nested diamond motifs. The dominant palette is deep red and brick red, balanced by dark navy blue, charcoal, warm tan, and small ivory-beige accents. Each diamond contains smaller geometric details and cross-like tribal accents, creating a rhythmic pattern that continues throughout the field. The central design is enclosed by multiple layered borders featuring stepped Greek-key forms, zigzag bands, angular tribal details, and repeating geometric accents. The strong red-and-navy contrast and tightly packed diamond pattern give this vintage Afghan Mishwani piece an authentic tribal character, while the natural fringe adds a handmade finish. Its long runner proportions make it especially suitable for hallways, entryways, kitchens, corridors, bedside spaces, and other narrow transitional areas.

About Mishwani Rugs:

Mishwani rugs are traditional Afghan wool rugs known for combining a flatwoven kilim base with raised hand-knotted pile, creating a distinctive textured finish. Rich colours, repeating diamonds, and geometric tribal motifs bring warmth and character to your home, while their handmade construction gives each piece individual charm. These versatile rugs add texture and visual interest to living rooms, bedrooms, and hallways.

Rug Care
  • Vacuum regularly on a low or no-beater-bar setting, taking care around the fringe.
  • Rotate the rug every 6-12 months for even wear.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to help preserve color.
  • We recommend a rug pad underneath to prevent slipping and extend the rug's life.
  • For deeper cleaning, use a wool-safe professional rug cleaner every 1-2 years.

Tapestry of Rugs vs. Mass-Produced Rugs

Not all rugs are made the same. Here's what sets a hand-knotted, one-of-one vintage rug apart from a mass-produced one.

Tapestry of Rugs
Mass-Produced Rugs
Hand-knotted by skilled artisans
Machine-made at scale
100% natural wool
Often synthetic fibers like polypropylene
One-of-a-kind — no two are alike
Identical copies made in bulk
Vintage character with real history
New, uniform, no history
Built to last for generations
Built for short-term use
Naturally hypoallergenic wool fibers
Can off-gas synthetic chemicals
Can hold or gain value over time
Depreciates like disposable decor
